No. His point was that George deeply loved this “idiot,” with the result that he always wanted Lennie to be with him in his travels and in his work.

And he acts like Lennie when he comes into Crooks’s room in the barn, saying only, “This is the first time I ever been in [Crooks’s] room” (128).
